EXPO-CITFRESA 2011

Some of the leading soft fruit producers and exporters in Spain are set to gather again from 23-25 February this year for Expo-Citfresa 2011, the principal dedicated showcase for Huelva’s strawberry and citrus sector.
The event, which will take place at the Cartaya Fair Grounds in the Andalusian province, will act as a meeting point for Andalusian soft fruit producers, as well as buyers from not just Spain, but across Europe.

For the 2011 edition, Expo-Citfresa’s organising committee has planned a series of parallel events, including technical meetings that will detail the latest developments in the sector and enable debate covering related issues.
There will also be a ‘knowledge fair’, whose objective is to encourage the exchange of ideas between government agencies and companies with the aim of developing projects that can help generate measures for greater competitiveness in the sector.
Organisers said that, after eight successful editions, the event has proven itself to be a suitable location for growers in the sector to showcase their products and make new contacts.

Expo-Citfresa’s organising committee, though Huelva’s Chamber of Commerce, has helped bring about the presence of a substantial delegation of berry and citrus producers from the province at this year’s Fruit Logistica.
The Huelva stands will showcase the area’s products through a day of tasting events to take place during the the fair.
Expo-Citfresa said it hopes to encourage greater participation in Huelva Day at Fruit Logistica from both local growers and international buyers at Huelva’s stand in the Andalusia area.

En el Recinto Ferial de Cartaya, durante los días 23, 24 y 25 de Febrero de 2011, tendrá lugar la IX Feria profesional de Europa de la Fresa y los Cítricos EXPO-CITFRESA, considerada por el sector fresero y citrícola de la provincia de Huelva como su referente.

De la importancia de este magno certamen da idea el hecho de que esté considerado por la Junta de Andalucía como de “carácter excepcional”. En el mismo se encontrarán todos los interesados del sector hortofrutícola Español y del resto de los países Europeos, así como de otros lugares del mundo.

Desde el Comité Organizador, en el que se encuentran presentes todos los agentes sociales de la agricultura onubense, se diseñan actividades paralelas que enriquecen la muestra. Este año además de, las Jornadas Técnicas, en las que se informará de los últimos avances del secto y se debatirá sobre la problemática del mismo.
Se incluye una Feria del Conocimiento, que se pondrá en marcha auspiciada por la Cámara de Comercio y el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
Con éste programa se persigue ayudar a las empresas de Huelva a desarrollar proyectos, facilitando el contacto con los centros de investigación, con el fin de generar aplicaciones útiles y que hagan posible la competitividad del sector privado: en particular, en las pequeñas y medianas.

Ha quedado demostrado, después de ocho ediciones que EXPO-CITFRESA es el lugar adecuado para que las empresas dedicadas a este especializado sector pueda mostrar sus producciones y realicen sus contactos comerciales, puesto que la muestra coincide con la plenitud de la campaña agrícola tanto fresera como citrícola.

Recordemos que EXPO-CITFRESA es la única Feria Profesional que se realiza en Europa de estas características.

El Comité Organizador de EXPO-CITFRESA promueve a través de la Cámara de Comercio de Huelva un año más, la presencia de los productores Onubenses, tanto de fresas como de cítricos en la Fruit Logística de Berlín de 2010. Para ello en la importantísima Feria Internacional, Huelva participa con Stands para la exhibición de sus productos, se celebra una degustación “DeMenúHuelva” y promoción en la prensa especializada, cofinanciado por la Diputación Provincial de Huelva, la Cámara de Comercio, Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva, Fundación Caja Rural y Extenda.

Es intención de la Organización de EXPO-CITFRESA, reforzar el Día de Huelva en la Feria de Berlín, fomentando una mayor participación de empresas y comerciales extranjeros, posibles compradores de los productos Onubenses, en la que se invita a visitar el stand de Huelva en el conjunto de Andalucía.

Navelina oranges (Dalmau) - 25.10.2010 - 30.01.2011
The Navelina navel orange has an interesting history. Navel oranges that would mature even earlier than Washington have long been sought. A budsport found in Riverside, California in 1910 was exported to Spain in 1933 for further development. It was extensively selected and re-introduced to the market in 1990 as Navelina, 'a small navel'.
80 years of development had produced a medium-sized slightly pear-shaped fruit with a small navel. The rind is very smooth and reddish orange at maturity. The fruit mature very early and are juicy with a sweet flavour that is less sprightly than Washington navel. Originally named Smith's Early the fruit is also known as Dalmau and Washington Early.

In January we visited food producers in Sevilla, Huelva and Cadiz - in February we continued our visits to Spanish food producers in Granada and Cordoba. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos of the producer's installations. The producers have, however, been included in our list of bulk food providers.

PRESS RELEASE EXPO-CITFRESA 2010

On February 24th, 25th and 25th 2010, Cartaya will held the eighth edition of EXPO-CITFRESA, Europe´s Professional Feria for strawberry and citric, considered as a reference by the strawberry and citric professionals in the province of Huelva.

A sample of the importance of this great event is the fact that it is considered “exceptional” by the Junta de Andalucía. And the fact that everyone interested in the fruit and vegetable sector from Spain, the rest of European countries and elsewhere in the world will meet at this Feria.

During the last edition, it was attended by 60 exporting companies, between producers and specific products exporters, such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, nectarines, khakies and those purely devoted to the growing and export of citric, as well as a great number of auxiliary companies. Professionals from all over the world related to this sector and involved in highly selective agriculture visited the Feria.

After seven editions, it has been proved that EXPO-CITFRESA is the place for companies in this specialized sector to show their productions and make business contacts, since the Feria takes place during the agricultural season, both of strawberry and citric.

We must take in mind that EXPO-CITFRESA is the only Professional Fair of these characteristics taking place in Europe.

During the 2010 edition of the Feria and parallel to the marketing products exposed, there will be a number of other activities among which we should mention: Technical Conferences, which will enrich meetings between professionals, producers and traders from big distribution chains. At the same time, it is interesting to mention the II Bilateral Meeting University-Company, an activity which gets an increasingly interest by companies every year. And we want to remember that during the professional sessions on the days of the Feria, exhibitors will have the opportunity to publicize the latest news about their products.

One more year, the Organizing Committee of EXPO-CITFRESA promotes, through The Chamber of Commerce in Huelva, the presence of strawberry and citric producers from Huelva in Fruit Logistica Berlin 2010. In order to do this, Huelva participates in this important International Fair with stands to display its products and to taste “DeMenúHuelva”, cofinanced by the Diputación Provincial de Huelva, The Chamber of Commerce, the Port Authority, Caja Rural Foundation and Extenda.

From the organization of EXPO-CITFRESA we are working to strengthen Huelva Day at the Fair in Berlin, encouraging a greater participation of companies and foreing traders, potential buyers of products from Huelva, where we invite them to visit Huelva stand in Hall 18.

Organic olive oils promoted in Polish supermarkets

The organic olive oil of Chambergo has been promoted in connection with Extenda (Andalusian Trade Agency) in the Polish supermarket Alma Market. The products have been sold in Poland since 2007.
